Randa Fahmy was commissioned by Four Seasons, the world’s leading luxury hotel group, to create lighting, signage, furnishings and architectural features for Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh, which opened in 2002. The aim was to complement the 197 room resort’s architectural design concept with furnishings that contributed to an ambience of casual seaside luxury in the Arab tradition.
Working in close collaboration with Four Seasons designers, Randa created stunning exterior lighting throughout the resort’s gardens, in-room, public area and arcade lighting features, distinctive ceramic and etched metal signs, wood and brass furnishings and a spectacular [dimensions] ceramic panel set behind the reception desk. Her design for the ceramic panel was based upon classical Ottoman ceramic designs and hand painted and fired using the 16th century technique perfected by her partners in Qutahya, Turkey.
Since its opening, Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh has won many international awards, and is consistently listed as one of the world finest luxury resorts. Randa Fahmy’s work has become a distinctive feature in Four Season’s marketing campaigns and is a major factor in the resort’s striking traditional ambience.
