MISHKAH RANDA

The artist reintroduced this ancient shape to Cairene glassblowers, who subsequently named the lamp glass after her. The winglike brass elements were inspired by the handles on a pair of 19th-century Spanish damascene iron urns now on display in the Museo Nacional de Arte Hispanomusulman in Granada.
